Check One Off the Bucket List

August 26, 2011

Anyone who knows me can attest to my love of setting and achieving lofty goals.  I guess this started in my tweens, when I became a Girl Guide (the Belizean equivalent of Girl Scouts).  I wanted to cover my uniform sash with as many badges as I possibly could … baking, sewing, craft, water safety, first aid, survival, sports, agility, performing arts … hence, the bucket list began!

My bucket list now ranges from spiritual quests to athletic adventures and learning new languages.  It shrinks and grows throughout the years as I check off and add more.  I know it will remain endless until the end.  This summer I crossed off hang gliding.  What a blast!! (In fact, it was so much fun, I’ll do it again!)

Now I only have four ‘Soaring Adventures’ left:

Soaring Adventures

  1. hang gliding (June 2011)
  2. hot air balloon ride above African safari
  3. pilot’s license
  4. see earth from space
  5. sky diving (July 2001)
  6. glider flight

My goals and dreams fill me with purpose and manifesting them makes me feel completely and joyfully alive.  My bucket list inspires me and checking it off expands me.  It is my guide for a well-lived life.

So, what about your bucket list?  Do you have one?  Have you looked at it lately?  If there were three things you could do or taste or see before you “kicked the bucket,” what would they be?  Take a moment right now to brainstorm the possibilities.  Free yourself from any limitations or negativity and write down your deepest desires.  The seeds have been planted … let the blooming begin!

P. S. If you’d like some inspiration for creating your bucket list, check out “1000 Places to See Before You Die,” “500 Ways to Change the World,” and

P. S. S.  I highly recommend adding hang gliding to your list! I also recommend doing it with Paris Williams of California Hang Gliding.
