siesta

a midday or afternoon rest or nap, especially as taken in Spain and Latin American countries; a short sleep; to rest briefly (Webster’s New Universal Unabridged Dictionary)

calm, cat nap, doze, leisure, nap, quiet, recharge, recover, refresh, relax, restore, revive, slumber, stillness

I had my first introduction to the siesta tradition growing up in Belize, where stores would close down at midday.  Of course, I would often see my dad taking cat naps while playing Bridge, but this didn’t count because it was usually at night and he was multi-tasking.  No, a true siesta is dedicating 15 to 30 minutes of your afternoon to rest and recharge.  Siestas are ageless because they allow you to be still and take time just for you.
