RIP, Pep Pep!
Today is my black Lab, Pepper’s birthday. She would have been fourteen-years-old and I miss her just as much as when she was twelve. It’s been almost a year and a half since she’s been gone and there’s not a day that goes by without me thinking of her.
I miss how she always strategically positioned herself in the way of any crumbs that might fall from the counter as I cooked. I miss the tufts of hairballs appearing in the nooks and crannies of every room (we called them mini Pep’s). I miss how she thought her “Paw” could do no wrong!
Pepper truly was my very best friend, who taught me so much about how to live agelessly. Day-in and day-out, she was the fullest expression of being completely and joyfully alive. So, in her honor I am unleashing a plan to turn my e-book, Ageless Dogma–A Dog’s Life Guide to Staying Young into a hardcover (and, what better timing than the Year of the Dog?!).
Ageless Dogma will be a delightful gift book filled with youthful wisdom and lots of adorable photos of rescue dogs. I intend to use the book as a fundraiser for Pep’s 4-legged pals, who are less fortunate than she was. I have partnered with an award-winning pet photographer, Lori A. Cheung, who will photograph puppies and dogs from the Humane Society, SPCA and other animal welfare organizations and shelters.
I am waiting to find out if I will be awarded a book contract with Hay House (I entered a writer’s contest this month). So, stay tuned! In the meantime, I invite you to read my blog as I contemplate ageless words from Pepper’s perspective. I’ll start off next week with “dogged.” :-)
P. S. In celebration of Pepper’s Life and the Year of the Dog, I am giving a special treat to those of you who are interested in my Ageless Dogma gift book. If you buy the e-book version now and leave a printable review on Amazon or Kindle, I’ll send you a signed copy of the gift book when it’s released! Just click HERE to learn more.
