It’s hard to believe my grandmother has been gone for a year already. I miss her so, but I take comfort in the fact that my dearest angel is watching over me. When she died my sisters and I gathered and reminisced about our beloved grandmother. She had a knack for being very routine, so we created the following song that we sang at her funeral.
GG’s Favorite Routines
(Sung to the melody of “My Favorite Things”)
Plumped pillows in place and the blankets just so
Bathrobe and slippers all ready to go
Bows in each corner and one in between
These were a few of her fav’rite routines
Meals starting with grace, but not being complete
Unless she had tea and a little something sweet
Opening her curtains to enjoy the valley scene
These were a few of her fav’rite routines
When our tears flow
When our hearts ache
When we’re feeling sad
We simply remember her fav’rite routines
And then we don’t feel so bad
Tending her garden and arranging her flowers
Opening her home to weddings and showers
Keeping her house and her yard so pristine
These were a few of her fav’rite routines
Lipstick and glasses and hair all in place
Greeting each person with a smile on her face
She was the best grandma that you’ve ever seen
We love her for all of her fav’rite routines
When our tears flow
When our hearts ache
When we’re feeling sad
We simply remember her fav’rite routines
And then we don’t feel so bad
